It was an intimate 60-person wedding at Ventford Hall in Lenox MA. They did something unique for their ceremony inside the mansion in front of the fireplace. Rachel + Erich walked in FIRST and had their guests follow them into the ceremony room. It was a bit awkward as it was sprung on us last minute and I had to rush from one sound system to another and the photographer had to rush into place. It made for about 5 minutes or so of awkwardness at the start of their ceremony. Neat idea, but as it was sprung on us with only 5 minutes notice, it just didn’t work.
They also planned a sparkler send-off, but instead of the end of the night, they did it right after dinner into their first dance. Again, it was awkward to stage and they lost about 30 minutes of dance time due to it. During our planning process, which starts about 3 months prior to their wedding date, we talk over logistics such as where each special event will occur (when we are talking such a broken-up facility like Ventford Hall) so that we have the right gear in the right place. When last-minute changes occur, it makes us all not look good and leads to events that don’t flow properly from space to space or event to event. That’s why we work so hard to create moments and stage everything properly ahead of time.
