Museum Wedding Venues Near Me

Art and culture as background to your wedding celebration?  Maybe you should be looking into museum wedding venues near me (or you).  Museum weddings can make for some amazing wedding photo backgrounds.  They are also very different from your typical wedding venues (with some very specific restrictions that you should know about!).

Every museum wedding venue has its own rules and regulations from noise levels to no red wine or no sitting on the furniture.  Be sure to ask during your tour what IS and what IS NOT allowed at your museum wedding venue of choice.

Some are very strict on their vendors with load-in instructions, timelines and load out restrictions (one venue actually told us we’d be charged $200 if we didn’t vacate the venue within 30 minutes of the end of the last song – it takes 20 minutes for guests to even get out of our way before we can start rolling out).

Some venues we have to bring additional staffing just to adhere to their regulations – which can mean a higher cost for you.

Don’t get me wrong – we love working at these venues.  We tend to get better clientele and the images from these weddings can be stunning. You can also be limited to what you can do for custom lighting or decor options at your museum wedding.    Give us a call or drop us an email and we can meet you at your venue and walk the space with you and your contact so that we all know the rules and regulations together.

What museum venue are you considering for your wedding?  What drew you to it?  Sometimes it’s near where you went to college or one of your professions drew you to it or the area.  The more we know why you chose your venue, the better we understand it’s importance to you and your wedding plans and decor choices.

Mass MoCA

MASS MoCA has among the most dramatic and creative spaces in all of New England available for your special event. This former-factory campus holds 250,000 sq. feet of gallery spaces filled with contemporary art — a stunning setting where you can play host, for any number from 4 to 400.

The museum’s constellation of galleries (with a preponderance of space for social distancing) creates a singular experience in which to gather and celebrate. From intimate meeting and ceremony spaces to soaring loft-style galleries that will seat up to 400 guests — there is no better place than MASS MoCA to bring your vision to life.

The Mount

Exchange vows and mingle with loved ones against the backdrop of The Mount’s colorful, award-winning formal gardens and the elegant interior of Edith Wharton’s historic mansion. Spanning nearly 50 acres, the gracious, spectacular estate is the perfect setting for an unforgettable wedding.

During your event, the entire estate is closed to our visiting public so your guests can explore the house and gardens.
For your ceremony location, choose from the exquisite French Flower Garden, inspired by the gardens at Versailles, or the intimate Italian Garden, inspired by renaissance architecture.

After your ceremony, you can host cocktails throughout the mansion and on the expansive terrace overlooking The Mount’s meticulously manicured property and the mountains beyond. Your guests are invited to wander through the exhibits on the mansion’s third floor.

Hancock Shaker Village

Hancock Shaker Village is a magical setting for weddings. We’re situated on 750 acres, with twenty historic buildings dating to 1790 and acres of vibrant heirloom gardens. The wedding couple has so many choices: two Shaker barns, a 20-acre field, a white tent that overlooks mountains and meadows, and the interiors of historic buildings that are exquisitely appointed with Shaker style. We offer a variety of distinctive settings with historic ambiance and modern conveniences. The panoramic views, historic village, gardens, and heirloom breeds (cows, sheep, and goats) make an unforgettable setting for your wedding and photographs. Our staff will work with you to plan a stress-free and memorable day.

Hancock Shaker Village is conveniently located two and a half hours from Boston and three hours from New York. Lodging options range from chic country B&Bs to a grand hotel. We are centrally located for a unique and memorable country wedding.
From bridal luncheons and wedding rehearsals to the big day, our staff will assist in creating a memorable event every step of the way.

Chesterwood Museum

Long a site that sparks visitors’ creativity, Chesterwood is an outstanding location for weddings, meetings, retreats, and reunions.  The property masterly combines the elegance of European gardens with the natural landscape of the Berkshires to create a beautiful and memorable backdrop to any event.  Here you will find formal, perennial gardens, sweeping lawns with natural woodland walks, and broad porches, all with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Chesterwood is an entirely outdoor venue. We are happy to make recommendations on rental and catering vendors.

Wadsworth Antheneum

The Wadsworth Atheneum is comprised of five connected buildings. The first was the Gothic Revival Wadsworth building of 1844, designed by the eminent architects Ithiel Town and Alexander Jackson Davis. It originally housed the art gallery, the Connecticut Historical Society, the Young Men’s Institute (which became the Hartford Public Library), and the Natural History Society. The Watkinson Library of Reference was added to the original building in the 1860s.

Mystic Seaport Museum / The Boat Shed

Tall ships, fresh air, and beautiful water views make a wonderful backdrop for any event. With a variety of unique venues, Mystic Seaport Museum is the perfect setting to create unforgettable memories. Whether you’re planning a wedding, meeting, corporate event, memorial luncheon, family reunion or other special events, our outstanding venues capture the area’s historic New England charm, providing you and your guests the perfect spot for your special day.
