Disc Jockey For Wedding Reception Near Me
2021 A Year In Review – Rob Alberti’s Luxury Wedding DJ and Lighting Design

Disc Jockey For Wedding Reception Near Me: 2021 has been one crazy year. The year of Covid postponements and changes came to pretty much a close for us come spring 2021, but that left us with 100’s of rescheduled weddings from 2020 that got jammed into our 2021 schedule. It was a record year for the number of weddings for us – and most prime wedding months in 2021, we were up by nearly 30% from normal levels. There were some crazy months where we had only a couple of days off and we were installing and striking lights on multiple events each day during the week. I wanted to share with you some of our favorite weddings from 2021 as we close in on a banner comeback year for the wedding industry. (Did I mention that 2022 will be even busier???)

Q: Who are the best wedding DJs near me?

A: Check out their social media channels, listen to audio clips of their work, and really read the reviews of past clients. It will be obvious who takes your wedding seriously as a business and who are the less-than-average DJs in your area that won’t deliver on their promises.

Krystiana & Ryan – Mill One Open Square – Holyoke MA Wedding DJ

Krystiana + Ryan were the sweetest couple. We did quite a few receptions at Mill One Open Square in Holyoke but their reception stood out. I don’t think Krystiana ever stopped smiling the entire night. The love between the two of them was just palpable the entire event and even after doing weddings for over 30 years, it’s just so heartwarming to see such a happy couple so in love. This image of Krystiana from Emily Savage Design & Photography just summed up the entire feel of their wedding day. Our business runs on love and it was just so special to be a part of their wedding day.

Looking For A Disc Jockey For Wedding Reception Near Me?

Q: What Makes A Good Wedding DJ?

A: It’s their skill in keeping the energy on the dance floor and making sure all your guests are entertained and on the dance floor. Someone could have been DJing for 20+ years but still not have this ability to bring family and friends to their feet. It takes a special person to read a crowd and morph into what is necessary for that particular group in front of them each and every weekend. A great DJ knows how to program and blend the right music to fit both your style and keep that energy level on your dance floor. They will curate the perfect blend of music for your wedding day soundtrack.

Cory + Jack – Wadsworth Mansion – Middletown CT Same-Sex Wedding DJ

Cory + Jack were married at The Wadsworth Mansion. I’ve always loved doing weddings at The Wadworth, but Cory + Jack were not to be outdone by any of our past clients. The entire feel of their event was like a high-energy dance club. We had a Drag Queen performance, and with our DJ with Uplighting, the mansion came to life when it was time to dance.

Q: How important is a DJ at a wedding?

A: If your idea of a great wedding is seeing your friends and family out on the dance floor, then a wedding DJ is more important to you. If you are not planning on dancing at your own wedding or if music isn’t important to you, then maybe your wedding photographer should be more of a priority for your wedding. We get it, not everyone’s priorities are the same when planning their wedding, but if it’s “all about the party” for you, then you better make sure to find the best DJ to ensure your expectations are met when it comes to the party and dancing.

Aliza & Max – Backyard Tented Wedding – Monterey / Great Barrington Wedding DJ

Aliza + Max were married in the backyard of her parent’s summer home in The Berkshires. We were hired to handle all the lighting for this tented wedding. When we did the site visit with their other wedding vendors and wedding planner, we even ran into a black bear cub wandering through their tent location. There was a long path between the back of the house where their ceremony and cocktail hour was to be held and the tent site far up the hill in the back. We had to run an 800′ long path of lights on shepherd’s hooks to delineate the path up the hill.

The thing that stood out about their wedding was that there were so many last-minute changes the week of their wedding.- due to inclement weather, their plans on doing an outdoor dinner and dance floor were quickly switched to a tented event. The tent installation was delayed due to mud, weather, and a medical emergency (one of the other wedding vendors had a seizure and the worksite was shut down with medical staff) the day of installation. We were onsite waiting about 6 hours for the tent to arrive and be installed so we could get working on the lighting install, but we decided to come back the next day at the crack of dawn and install it then to work around our other installations that weekend.

It ended up being a truly stunning wedding, but not as originally planned.

“We used DJ Jesse Camp and all our guests could say was how unbelievable he was. We ended up adding an extra hour because we couldn’t stop dancing! Even more then the reception, they have everything you need for your ceremony as well with battery powered speakers so no crazy extension cords needed! They thought of everything for us and i had surprise music i wanted to play and Jesse made it look seamless.”

Q: How Do You Become A Wedding DJ?

A; Our newest DJs are paired with our seasoned wedding DJ pros and shadow them for YEARS before they can ever go out on their own. They might start by helping set up and tear down our DJ systems to become proficient at the technical end of things. They will practice at home and their skills as DJ will be reviewed by our staff. Then, they might start taking control during social hour and dinner with our trained DJs guiding them. Even after they are ready to DJ a wedding, we still keep a seasoned MC with them for at least another wedding season to continue their training. In the end, they will spend 3-4 years interning before ever going out on their own.

Lauren + Peter – Wedding at The Proprietor’s Lodge in Pittsfield MA

Lauren + Peter were married at The Proprietors Lodge in Pittsfield MA. They were looking for the best wedding disc jockey that they could find. The funny thing is, they were both Westfield State University Alumni (and we are located less than a mile from their campus!). It was a match made in Westfield! The energy on the dance floor was like they were back at WSU and dancing at one of the local dance clubs or one of the many Owl Balls that I literally DJ’d at while they were still at WSU. They hired me, DJ Rob Alberti and we also provided dance lights and our photo booth rental for their reception. When we DJ a Wedding Reception, it’s all about setting the right tone and playing the right tunes to keep everyone up and dancing – and that’s what we did for Lauren and Peter and their friends and family.

Q: When Do You Pay Your Wedding DJ

A: Most DJs require a small deposit or retainer (~20%) to secure your wedding date. The remaining balance is normally paid a week or two prior to your wedding date so you don’t have to worry about anything on your actual wedding date. After all, who wants to have a pile of envelopes or have to whip out their credit card on the day of their wedding?

Q: Can A Wedding DJ Play Any Song?

A: Unlike a wedding band that might just not have the ability to play EDM or mimic the latest hit by Halsey or Justin Bieber, your wedding DJ should be able to play virtually any style of music. Of course, they need to have a legal copy of all music being played. No, it’s not like they can call up Spotify or Youtube and play anything available online. They need to secure legal copies of music for playback through DJ record pools or other subscription-based services available only to professional DJs.

“Rob and his team did an amazing job on our custom lights and photo booth for our wedding on 9/18/21 in the Berkshires. Rob and his team did an amazing job on our custom lights and photo booth for our wedding on 9/18/21 in the Berkshires. ”

Q: Do you need a Band AND a DJ at your wedding?

A: We always suggest that if you are having a band at your wedding, you also consider hiring a DJ/MC as well. Besides bands not being able to sound like all your favorite artists, they usually are not skilled in making announcements that are necessary at a wedding. Your DJ can take care of the music the band can’t handle, can play during band breaks (which are rather frequent, long and cause a lull in the action on your dance floor). It’s the best of both worlds and hiring a wedding DJ/MC is much less expensive than hiring a good wedding band.

Meet Allison & Nick
Stonover Farms – Lenox, MA

I’d like for you to meet Allison and Nick. When you walk into Stonover Farms – it is an empty barn. Allison and Nick had a vision for their wedding. They wanted to completely transform the space with lights hung throughout. We walked the space with them, brought in a few light fixtures, and created a design to meet their vision.

We brought in amber uplighting to warm up the wood tones around the perimeter. We hung about 600′ of black strand bistro lights throughout the space. Then, we brought in 2 custom recycled wood chandeliers. One was an 8′ long plank chandelier with glass and hanging Edison bulbs hung over the wood bar. The second was a 6′ x 6′ square recycled wood chandelier with 16 Edison bulb hanging strands placed over the dance floor.

When they came in for their first look on their wedding day – they just lit up. It was more than they ever expected. Even, Stonover Farm’s owner, Tom pulled me aside the day after their wedding to say that he’s never seen the barn lit up – it was just amazing.
