How To Throw An iPod Wedding

Looking to DJ your own wedding?  With our iPod Wedding rental systems, you can do just that.  Maybe you have a friend flying in from out of town who is a DJ and they just need gear.  We will deliver our ipod wedding system, set it up, help you run it and tear it down at the end.

Our iPod wedding rentals come complete with wireless microphone, 1/8″ inputs for ipod or laptop and a mixer to bring it all together for your do-it-yourself wedding (DIY Wedding).

Set the Bar Low: Don’t think that this wedding will be like any other wedding you have ever been to. (Unless you have an experienced friend DJing it – and it’s just the ipod wedding equipment that you need) You are going to need to assign someone to monitor the iPod, stop it at agreed upon spots for things like the Father/Daughter dance and the Mother/Son dance. Once you have programmed the five hours of music don’t think that your job is at all over.

Mix It Up: You also want to be sure that there is a wide variety of music being played. While you probably don’t want Justin Timberlake and Timbaland Bringing Sexy Back over appetizers, you also don’t want Robert Goulet Dreaming the Impossible Dream smudged in between Britney and Madonna.

As a bride-to-be, you can go into your planning thinking that the worlds of weddings and the iPod would rarely intersect, but the array of options is staggering. With Apple having sold over 90 million iPods worldwide, perhaps it’s not totally surprising that the iPod has infiltrated the wedding industry, and if the examples above are any indication, it’s only going to become more important over time. Have you seen the iPod used at weddings in a new and interesting way? We look forward to reading about your experiences below.

A DJ, Band, or an Ipod – Can you DJ your own wedding?

Tuesday June 6, 2006
Have you thought of DJing your own wedding using an Ipod? This article, from Marketwatch, discusses how many couples are doing just that. Interestingly, when I posted my DIY Wedding article, many DJs wrote to me and pointed out the drawbacks of using an Ipod at your wedding, namely that a DJ does much more than play music. She or he helps a wedding flow smoothly, emcees the wedding reception, and makes sure that people are out on the dance floor having fun. However, the cost of a DJ is often around $1500, and a band is often two to ten times as much, while an MP3 player, sound system and songs are typically under $500. When you’re pinching every penny, it might just be worth it. What do you think?
