New Britain Museum of Art – Fanchon & Larry
The New Britain Museum of Art was the setting for our latest wedding lighting event. (We were not contracted for DJing - just lighting).
It was a beautiful room to light. Each table had it's own pinspot. Walls and ceilings were washed with colors of their choice. Originally, there was going to be pipe and drape in the dining area to soften the dark walls, but there was a last minute change of heart.
Lisa & Dan – The Log Cabin, Holyoke MA
From our first meeting, Lisa had a very unique idea about what style wedding she wanted. You know the couple that hates kids and doesn't want any kids at their wedding? This was NOT Lisa and Dan. Lisa invited more than a dozen kids from toddler to 12. She wanted them INVOLVED in the day's activities.
This is where we came in. I brought one of my best interactive DJs, Tony Simmons and his son Danny along with myself. We approached this wedding kind of like a hybrid bar miztvah. We had fun and games for the kids during dinner while the adults ate (but many of the adults came out to do the chicken dance and to try out the hoola hoops). It was nonstop dancing throughout dinner for both young and old. Lisa lead the conga line after they cut the cake after salad.
We also brought in 2 video screens and projected a slide show that Lisa & Dan created. During dinner if you were not eating, dancing, you were watching the slide show. Our photobooth was also setup in the corner. There was a line for it just about the entire night. At the end of the night, we created a slide show with all the images from the photobooth and projected it onto our video screen for all to enjoy.
We had the pleasure of working with Fran Gagnon of Gagnon Films. We love working with Fran. Keep an eye out on our youtube account as we'll be posting one of Fran's videos from a recent wedding we did with him. The Log Cabin put on an amazing spread and the room looked georgeous.

Lighting Your Event
Many times we will get calls from people that have already booked another DJ, but are interested in our lighting options. The answer is YES. We do lighting separate from our DJ services. Need a custom gobo/your name in lights? Need our full venue architectural wash lighting? Or our club lighting system? Give us a call or drop us an email. We'd love to talk with you regarding your lighting needs.
Atlantic City – Video Jock Showcase
Some of the best video DJs (or VJs) from around the world were at the AC DJ Convention this year. This video clip is a bit risque (R Rated) and reflects the club scene. (Our video parties are radio edited and suitable for the school environment). This is just to show you some of the cutting edge material and technology that was displayed at the DJ Convention this year.
The Wharf – Ipod Wedding Rental
We had another one of our ipod wedding rentals this past weekend at a quaint location in Madison, CT called The Wharf. We do many events at the Wharf each year, but this weekend - it wasn't about our DJs. It was about one of our ipod rentals. Heather & Jason wanted a very low-key feel to their wedding on the beach. This New England clam bake feel was filled with lobster and a simple soundtrack from Jason's ipod. Other than a couple toasts, nothing was said. People relaxed and enjoyed the beautiful weather and quaint ceremony.
There was an open pit fire for the lobsters, an icecream bar and smores on the fire. Congratulations to the two of you for doing it all your own style. For more information on our ipod wedding rentals, please click here.
Want To Make Your Own Slide Slow?
If you're computer savy, do we have some FREE software for you. Google offeres a FREE copy of their Picasa software. Simply load your photos, create a movie and burn it to DVD or upload it directly to YouTube. We can provide the screen and projector. Save $ and create the slide show yourself.
Do-It-Yourself iPod Weddings
2009 will go down in the books as the year of the small wedding. Many people are getting back to the basics and opting for a more family oriented event in their back yard or small hall. At Rob Alberti's After Hours Dj, we are always adapting to the changing market.
We have a do-it-yourself ipod Wedding option that has become very popular in the past few months. We have a sound technician that will come to your event, setup a basic 2 speaker sound system, mixer and wireless microphone for you. Our technician will show you how to run the system and will even be on-hand throughout the event to help guide you. At the end of the event, they will pack everything up and return it for you.
Please be sure to check out our many services. We even have a do-it-yourself iphotography package where we utilize a professional photographer in the area, but you get to print and create your own photo album online.
