Lily Lake Inn Wolcott, CT – iPhotography Package Examples
I worked with my staff photographer, Peter this past weekend. Here are a few examples of our iphotography package photos. Michelle & Jeremy will receive their photos WITHIN a week from their wedding date. Now, that is amazing.
Westfield State College – Karaoke Night
It was Karaoke Nite at Westfield State College. We had some great talented singers come out (and some not so great). Take two aspirin and put in your earplugs. Yes, the annual karaoke contest at Westfield State College kicked off last night.
The Cranwell Resort, Lenox MA
I was up at the Cranwell Resort in Lenox MA for a corporate event this weekend. Our uplighting looked phenomenal in the room. Check out the photos below:
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun – Fashion Show at Chez Josef
After Hours provided the staging, pipe & drape, sound & lighting for the annual Girls Just Wanna Have Fun fashion show at Chez Josef in Agawam last night. Check out our pictures showing our setup from empty ballroom to the fashion show.
Crossing Paths With Other DJs
Last night I was in Albany meeting with a client up at the Panera Bread next to the Crossgates Mall. Yes, I drove about 2 hours each way to meet a potential client for a wedding. That's the level of service that we provide for our clients.
But I digress from my story. As I was waiting for my clients to arrive, I realized there was another DJ nearby meeting with a couple as well. No, great minds do not think alike. I was dressed in black dress slacks, a button down shirt with my logo embroidered on it and a tie. I even had a matching coat with my embroidered logo. I had my presentation folder with about a 100 pages worth of material to show. My laptop was running a slide show and my iTouch had a separate slide show going.
This other DJ, was sitting backwards in his chair. I think it was to match the fact that he had a baseball cap on backwards on his head. No dress shirt, just a t-shirt, jeans and boots. He didn't have a computer, just a few pieces of paper and he didn't seem to be taking notes on what they were talking about. Exactly how is he going to remember what this client wanted v. the next? We take extensive notes, take a picture of all our clients and keep all correspondences in their folder.
It drives me nuts when I see someone who claims to be a professional wedding dj, but they don't run their business like it's a business. He is what makes our industry look bad. I would have fired any one of my DJs who showed up to a client meeting looking like that.
Leigh & Brian – The Cranwell Resort, Lenox MA
Leigh & Brian has a beautiful outdoor wedding ceremony at the Cranwell Resort in Lenox MA. DJ Tim and Jesse were there to take care of this young crowd. The lights were flashing and people were dancing on chairs as the night went on.
Heather & Derek – The Mill On The River in South Windsor
A bout of cold weather changed Heather & Derek's outdoor wedding plans. The tent was up just outside the gazebo for their chilly wedding vows. Everyone huddled together to keep warm but the service was over fast enough and people were upstairs having cocktails in no time.
As their guests circled the dance floor, Heather & Derek entered the room and did their first dance. One of my past clients was there, Crystal & Brian who were married about a year ago.
Entrance Song: You Shook Me All Night Long - AC/DC
First Dance: Then - Brad Paisley
Cake Cutting: 1,2,3,4 - Plain White T's
Heather & Her Father: I Loved Her First - Heartland
Derek & His Mother: My Wish - Rascal Flatts
Last Song: Aaron Lewis of Staind - All I Want (Acoustic)
Molly & Peter – The Mount, Lenox MA
It was a bit cold up in the Berkshires at The Mount this weekend so tents were in place on the back deck and in the courtyard. This is what I call an anti-wedding. No formal introductions. No first dance. It was very casual. When it came time for parent dances, Peter's brother introduced them simply over the mic.
It was a retro-80's mix of music that night and people danced hard for nearly 2 hours before the 10pm noise ordanence took effect in Lenox and the party came to a close.
Molly & her father's song: Sloop John B - The Beach Boys
Peter & his mother's song: Into The Mystic - Van Morrison
Last 2 Song: Take You Home Tonight -Eddie Money, No One's Gonna Love You - Band of Horses
Mill on the River – Wedding Disaster Avoided
I was at the Mill on the River yesterday for a wedding. The ceremony was scheduled outside for 4:30pm, which meant guests were due around 4pm. I arrived about 2:30 so that I had time to setup inside (really bad load in - through kitchen and up a flight of stairs, through a narrow hall and then into the room).
What I found when I arrived was beyond scary. They were in the MIDDLE of renovating the room. Yes, I said renovating the room I was supposed to be setting up in. They were putting up wallpaper, hanging light fixtures, touching up paint and there was debris from construction everywhere. There was scafolding up and clearly there was no way that I was going to be setting up anytime soon.
I setup the outdoor ceremony system and then went back in to talk to the staff once more about setting up inside. Construction was still going on. I staged my gear in the little narrow hall just outside the room. At 3:30 they finally cleared a little room for me to start setting up but construction crews were all around me still. It wasn't until around 3:45 when they cleared out. That was less than 15 minutes before my bride showed up!
The management was not apologetic about the delay and construction issue. They did not call me prior to warn me of what was going on so that I was prepared. They were rude during the event (yelling to me while I was on the microphone multiple times). The wait staff was wonderful, but this will be the last time we work at the Mill on the River.
The broken up facility is diffucult to run a successful reception as you cannot get sound into the dining area (no room for remote speaker setup due to the cramped setting). Older guests tend to sit and leave soon after dinner as they are separated from the party in the other room. It is not condusive to our normal fun party atmosphere where all ages are up and dancing.
Springfield Chamber of Commerce – Mass Mutual Center
The Springfield Chamber of Commerce has their table top trade show yesterday at the Mass Mutual Center in Springfield. We provided sound and lighting for the event. It was a relaxed event with many raffle prizes given out. There were about 70+ vendors there. Famous Dave's BBQ was there. If you haven't had their ribs, you have to go to their Springfield location!
